Tim Sylvia, the former UFC heavyweight champion, earned his most significant victory in almost three years after defeating Paul Buentello on the War on the Mainland card in Irvine, California.
During the first round, Sylvia was getting the better of the punching exchanges and forcing Buentello into corners, where Buentello would tie Sylvia up. Buentello’s tendency to hold onto Sylvia led referee Big John McCarthy to separate the fighters on three different occasions in the first round, a round that Sylvia definitely won. (more…)

The opening ceremony of the Youth Summer Olympic known as Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games officially took place at exactly 20:10 (GMT +8) on 14 August, in reference to the year 2010, at the Marina Bay Floating Stadium in downtown Singapore.
Attended by more than 27,000 spectators, 3,600 athletes aged between 14 to 18 marched in the Parade of Nations and followed by speeches from International Olympic Committee President (IOC) Jacques Rogge and Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee Chairman Ser Miang Ng. (more…)

World and Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt have back injury and ruled out competing for the rest of 2010.
The Jamaican champion Bolt was easily beaten by Tyson Gay in 100m race last Friday at Stockholm’s Diamond League giving him his second professional defeat in 100m.
Bolt will miss the remaining Diamond League meet in Zurich and Brussels in order to be back fit and healthy for the important championships in 2011 and 2012. (more…)

The reigning middleweight champion of Ultimate Fighting Championship Anderson Silva pulled off one of the most stunning finishes with only 1 minute and 50 seconds left in mixed martial arts history in the main event of UFC 117 at Oracle Arena.
After taking so much pounding in the initial four rounds from challenger Chael Sonnen, a thoroughly beaten-up Silva (27-4) caught Sonnen (25-11-1) in a triangle choke. Sonnen tapped out at 3:10 of the fifth round, though he complained to referee Josh Rosenthal that he apparently did not submit although the replays indicated he clearly did. (more…)

American Tyson Gay surprised world record holder Jamaican Usain Bolt in the 100-meter dash at the DN Galan meet in Stockholm, Sweden.
It’s the first major victory for Gay over Bolt since the Jamaican shocked the track world by setting world record in May 2008 giving Bolt his first lost in almost 2 years. (more…)

Anderson “The Spider” Silva, current UFC Middleweight champion in mixed martial arts will be challenged by Oregon’s Chael Sonnen in the main event of Saturday night’s UFC 117 at Oakland’s oracle arena.
Sonnen is 26-10-1, but the 33-year-old represents the best of a middleweight division that could give Brazil’s Silva a good match where the current champ reign dating back to 2006. (more…)

The last stage of the Tour de France covering a distance of 102.5km that started from Longjumeau to Paris Champs-Elysees was just a formalization matter in terms of leadership.
As expected, the final stage is just a showcase of sprinter riders with no effect in the leadership standings.
The final Stage 20 race was won by Mark Cavendish. It was Cavendish’s fourth stage win this year. He was followed by Alessandro Petacchi and Julian Dean.

Fabian Cancellara, one of the world’s top time-trial riders, won the Stage 19 time-trial race outpacing Tony Martin and Bert Grabsch both of Germany, who were 17 seconds and 1 minute, 48 seconds respectively behind the stage winner.
