Another Nuggets player is reportedly on the trading block. Guard J.R. Smith have limited future with the team who got him from Chicago Bulls.
A close source said the Nuggets are looking to trade Smith, a six-year veteran, who is entering the final year of a contract that will pay him $6.03 million. (more…)

US uses a 2-3 zone defense in the closing seconds to eked out an 86-85 win over Spain in a warmup game for the world championships.
The decision to go to the zone defense as suggested by assistant coach Jim Boeheim to go “Orange” for the last play caught Spain off-guard after Derrick Rose put the Americans ahead with two free throws. (more…)

According to Sports Illustrated, Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony is open to long-term deals with either the Houston Rockets or New jersey Nets if they can work out a trade with the Nuggets.
In recent days, Anthony has been rumored to be traded to New York Knicks in line with the indication that he will not sign extension with the Nuggets. His contract with the Nuggets runs until 2010-11 season and he is not expected to exercise his player option for 2011-12. (more…)

Serbia’s Nenad Krstic was released from police custody following a brawl during their game against Greece at the Acropolis tournament.
With still 2:40 to go and Greece leading 74-73, Fotsis moved against Serbia guard Milos Teodosic, after a hard fouled. After awhile
Serbian and Oklahoma Thunder center Nenad Krstic grabbed Greek center Antonis Fotsis by the throat as Fotsis exchanged heated words with Serb guard Milos Teodosic. After awhile fists began to fly and violence violence erupted. (more…)

Will Carmelo Anthony still play for Denver Nuggets or maybe he has already played his last game for the Nuggets ?
Anthony can opt out of his contract after the upcoming season and become the headliner of the 2011 free-agent class or he could play out the final two years of his contract.
He could also be dealt before the season starts if team owner Stan Kroenke decides to jump-start a rebuilding program or might choose to deal the face of his franchise at the February trade deadline, too. (more…)

The Los Angeles Lakers recently signed second-round draft pick Derrick Caracter a day after inking their other second-round selection Devin Ebanks.
Caracter, a 6-foot-9, 270-pound forward taken at No. 58 pick by the Lakers, was being courted also by several teams overseas before settling on a two-year deal with the Lakers. In the terms, Caracter is guaranteed the rookie minimum of $473,604 in 2010-11 with a team option in place worth approximately $788,000 for the following season.
Plagued by weight, conditioning, and attitude issues at Louisville, many wondered if Caracter even had a future beyond college. But the 22-year-old has shed almost 30 pounds since finishing his junior season at the University of Texas at El Paso, where he averaged 14.1 points and 8.1 rebounds in 27 games with the Miners. LeBron James was spotted on Monday at Cleveland area amusement park Cedar Point with Savannah Brinson.
While at the park, and in front of dozens of parkgoers, James decide to take his talent to Cedar Point’s basketball shooting games. In unfortunate event, he failed to convert a couple of shots and resulting to heckling by onlookers. (more…)

Trevor Ariza of Houston Rockets was acquired by New Orleans Hornets in a four-team, five-player trade that also sends point guard Darren Collison to Indiana Pacers.
Collison was a first-round pick in 2009 and Chris Paul’s backup with the Hornets who also became a starter when Paul went down with a knee injury. (more…)

It’s final, Tracy McGrady, a Seven-time NBA All-Star reached an agreement with Detroit Pistons for a one-year, $1.3 million contract.

President Barack Obama pulled together an informal dream team of current and former NBA stars such as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and other NBA all-stars.
They were also joined by some retired legends, including Bill Russell and Magic Johnson and College player Maya Moore of the Connecticut Huskies women’s team. (more…)

LeBron James finally able to thanked his Cleveland fans during his annual “King for Kids” charity bike-a-thon in downtown Akron where he addressed a friendly crowd of several hundreds who cheered him as he took the podium.
James was quoted as saying “To the city of Cleveland, my fans in Cleveland, my fans in northeast Ohio, I want to say thank you for the last seven years and the years that continue to go in the future.” (more…)

Detroit Pistons according to its General Manager Joe Dumars is currently in a discussion with Tracy McGrady for a one-year deal if McGrady agrees to take the minimum salary of $1.35 million.
McGrady, who made $23.2 million with the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks, has recently tried out with the Chicago Bulls. Unfortunately, Bulls instead signed Keith Bogans. (more…)

Shannon Brown turned down more lucrative offers and agrees to a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers for a shot at a third straight championship.
The high-flying free agent guard agreed to a two-year deal worth $4.6 million to return for his third season with Lakers according to Brown’s agent, Mark Bartelstein. (more…)
